Authentic Vintage Nautical Ship Engine Order Telegraph

Yes, this is a genuine maritime engine order telegraph – the classic device used on ships to send speed commands from the bridge to the engine room. Our high-quality version captures every detail of the originals, made from solid brass with a wooden base for that authentic nautical feel. Perfect for adding real ship character to homes, offices, restaurants, or hotels across the UK and EU.

Authentic Maritime Engine Order Telegraph

This nautical engine telegraph brings the thrill of old-school seafaring right into your space. Crafted with marine-grade brass and wood, it’s built tough just like the ones on real cargo and passenger ships from the mid-20th century. At 185 kg, it has that proper heavy, solid presence you expect from genuine maritime gear – far sturdier than lightweight copies.

Each piece is carefully made to match the traditional design, complete with clear command markings like “Full Ahead” and “Stop”. Whether displayed in a hallway, lounge, or commercial setting, it’s a striking conversation starter that fits beautifully in coastal, industrial, or vintage interiors.

Pair it with items from our vintage ship telegraph collection or nautical decorations.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you pack heavy brass items?

We pack every telegraph securely with professional crating and plenty of protective materials. All orders are fully insured and tracked for complete peace of mind.

Is this an original ship telegraph or a reproduction?

This is a high-quality retro reproduction, faithfully recreating the classic design of mid-20th century engine order telegraphs – built to the same standards as the originals.

How does an engine order telegraph work?

The handle moves to different speed commands (like Full Ahead or Stop), ringing a bell and moving a pointer – just like on real ships, where the engine room would match the order.

Is it suitable for outdoor display?

The solid brass construction handles outdoor conditions well, though we suggest a sheltered spot to preserve the finish.

Can I order in bulk for a restaurant or hotel?

Yes – contact our friendly team for commercial pricing, custom options, and pre-orders.

What if the telegraph is out of stock?
